Unemployment
So here is my thought on unemployment. It’s a vital part of the economy. The reason is simple. Shops open generally from 8-5 and working hours are from 8-5 so unless you are purchasing goods for your business you are too busy working to support the shops. So if everyone was employed it would mean that shops would have almost no customers during the week and would have to close. This brings me to the next point. What then is a healthy unemployment rate? 50%? That means half work while half shop. But this is strange because it would mean that the unemployed are supported by the employed and thus the employed give money to the unemployed who give it back to the employed. Now this would mean your economy would be directly proportional and growth could not really occur. Thus one has to consider this carefully. Also my thought is based on a very simple economy as it does not include investments, inflation, death, etc, etc. What you think? Am I mad?

But how to unemployed people afford to shop? And you are assuming, as you say, a very simple economy, IE that of a single business and a single shop open 8-5. And weekends. Let’s face it, most buying is done on weekends where most people have time off.
